Winter motoring tips

With winter well and truly upon us and temperatures dropping, we thought we'd give you some tips on making sure your car is ready for winter driving.
Get your battery tested. The most common problem for cars in winter is a flat battery. You definitely don't want to be stuck out in the cold if your battery goes flat!
Check your heater works. Sounds simple, but there's nothing more unpleasant than driving in the cold with no heater. Also make sure it de-mists the windscreen properly, not being able to see through a misted windscreen makes driving quite difficult!
Check your coolant levels. Make sure your anti-freeze levels are correct, make sure you follow the instructions on the bottle when topping up.
Take your car for a service. It's worth getting everything checked out with a proper service - the last thing you want to do is break down in the middle of nowhere.
Check your spare tyre condition. Make sure your spare tyre is in good condition and it's ready to use if needed - check it's inflated properly and that you have all the tools you need to change it (wheel spanner), as well as safety equipment (high visibility vest, warning triangle).
If your car isn't fit to drive in the winter, or you'd prefer not to, why not use travelezeto find a lift for your regular commute or one-off journey.
